Description

Victron Energy Lithium Battery Smart batteries are Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) batteries and are available in 12.8V or 25.6V in various capacities. They can be connected in series, parallel and series/parallel so that a battery bank can be built for system
voltages of 12V, 24V or 48V. The maximum number of batteries in one system is 20, which results in a maximum energy
storage of 84 kWh in a 12V system and up to 102 kWh in a 24V* and 48V* system.
A single LFP cell has a nominal voltage of 3.2V. A 12.8V battery consists of 4 cells connected in series and a 25.6V battery
consists of 8 cells connected in series.

Why lithium-iron-phosphate?

Rugged

A lead-acid battery will fail prematurely due to sulfation:
• If it operates in deficit mode during long periods of time (i.e. if the battery is rarely, or never at all, fully charged).
• If it is left partially charged or worse, fully discharged (yacht or mobile home during wintertime).

Efficient

• In several applications (especially off-grid solar and/or wind), energy efficiency can be of crucial importance.
• The round-trip energy efficiency (discharge from 100 % to 0 % and back to 100 % charged) of the average lead-acid
battery is 80 %.
• The round-trip energy efficiency of a LFP battery is 92 %.
• The charge process of lead-acid batteries becomes particularly inefficient when the 80 % state of charge has been
reached, resulting in efficiencies of 50 % or even less in solar systems where several days of reserve energy is
required (battery operating in 70 % to 100 % charged state).
• In contrast, a LFP battery will still achieve 90 % efficiency under shallow discharge conditions.

Size and weight

• Saves up to 70 % in space
• Saves up to 70 % in weight

Expensive?

• LFP batteries are expensive when compared to lead-acid. But in demanding applications, the high initial cost will be
more than compensated by longer service life, superior reliability and excellent efficiency.

Bluetooth

• With Bluetooth cell voltages, temperature and alarm status can be monitored.
• Instant readout: The VictronConnect App can display the most important data on the Device list page without the
need to connect to the product.
• Very useful to localize a (potential) problem, such as cell imbalance.

* To reduce required balancing time, we recommend to use a little different batteries in series as possible for the application. 24V systems are best built using 24V batteries. And 48V systems are best built using two 24V batteries in series. While the
alternative, four 12V batteries in series, will work, it will require more periodic balancing time.

Your understanding and cooperation in this matter are highly appreciated.

The term “lithium battery” or “lithium cell” refers to a family of batteries with different chemistries, comprising many types of cathodes and electrolytes. They are separated into:

(I) Lithium-ion batteries (Including lithium polymer batteries)
Rechargeable batteries are commonly used in consumer electronics such as Laptops, Mobile phones, MP3 players, Portable DVD players, GPS/navigation systems, Cameras, Camcorders, Scuba-diving lamps, Power tools, etc.

(II) Lithium metal batteries (Including lithium alloy batteries) Non-rechargeable/disposable batteries that have lithium metal or lithium compounds as an anode and are generally used in small, portable electronic devices, such as Watches, Thermometers, Remote car locks, Backup batteries in computers and communication equipment, etc.

All shipments containing Lithium Batteries are subject to dangerous goods regulations for air, road and sea transport. All lithium batteries are Class 9, Miscellaneous Dangerous Goods.

Shipping

HOW MUCH IS SHIPPING?

Shipping is calculated at checkout based on the contents of your cart and the shipping address. This takes into account product weight and dimensions, and whether the location being sent to is metro, regional or remote. The price will change depending on whether it is a commercial or residential address. There is an extra charge for items marked as *Dangerous Goods by the courier.

Please note, that we are currently using Freight Exchange as a freight broker. Their terms & conditions are listed here.

WHERE DO YOU SHIP?

We ship to most destinations in Australia. If the checkout does not allow your shipping address, please contact us and we will see what we can do to help.

WHO DO YOU SHIP WITH?

We use different couriers depending on rates and services available, including Border Express, Couriers Please and Australia Post. If you have a specific reason to use or not use a particular courier please let us know.

what about insurance?

We will generally insure any delivery above $500, BUT;

Freight damages MUST be reported to us within 24 hours of delivery for insurance claims on damages to be realised. Where possible please inspect the delivery for external damage to the packaging, and if damage is suspected inspect the goods BEFORE signing for the delivery.

Please refuse any obviously damaged deliveries (smashed panels, dented batteries) and ask the delivery driver to return the delivery to the depot and report the damages to us ASAP.

If you have granted “Authority to leave” or missed the driver, or have your delivery made to a depot, have the receiver inspect the delivery and please report any freight damage to us directly with photos via email within 24 hours of the delivery being made.

Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee damages will be covered by insurance if they are reported after 24 hours from the time of delivery.

How Long Does the shipping take?

It varies greatly based on the destination and the products ordered. Orders are usually dispatched from our warehouse in Preston, VIC within 48 hours. You can use the estimates below as a rough guide for shipping time:

  • VIC and SA: 1-2 days
  • QLD and NSW: 2-3 days
  • NT, WA and TAS: 3-10 days +

These estimates do not apply if the destination is regional or remote. Once orders leave our warehouse we have very little control over the actual shipping time. If you need a more accurate estimate of shipping time please contact us.
